Veterinarian required: (Yarmouth)
Come work in beautiful Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia! We are two 1991 AVC grad’s operating a four veterinarian practice. We are located in a medium sized town with a large rural population. Parade Street Animal Hospital is a large modern facility in Yarmouth with two satellite clinics, one in Little Brook and one in Barrington. Each satellite office is 60 km away, in small towns with no other local veterinary service. We also have a small equine segment. We offer in-house blood work (Idexx Vettest), radiography, and ultrasound, in addition to surgery and preventative health care. One to three vets are always located in Yarmouth, while another is at one of the satellite clinics. The clinic hours in Yarmouth are 8:00-5:00pm Monday-Friday and 9-12:00 on Saturday. Only one vet works on Saturday and the schedule is divided evenly among all vets, as are the on-call hours. Weekend on-call service is rotated with another local clinic. Satellite offices work on a 9:00-5:00pm basis with no Saturdays and vets are required to remain only until the day’s appointments have been finished. The Barrington satellite offers veterinary service on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and Little Brook on Tuesday and Thursday. Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience. Experience in ultrasound and / or orthopaedics would be a significant asset , as would any acquired medical / surgical / technical skills. First year holidays start at two weeks and increase in successive years. Saturday pay is in addition to salary as are any hours worked on call. Medical benefits are available that include dental and vision care. The clinic pays half of all costs excluding disability. Our support staff members are hardworking, intelligent, caring people of all age ranges and are very capable in performing their duties. Mutual respect between vets and support staff is highly regarded at our clinic. We are a fun-loving group who regularly plan staff and family gatherings.
